Sigma Upsilon is a co-educational (pangender), all-inclusive professional fraternal organization that seeks to advance its membership in their pursuit of higher education and a profession in the field of sustainability, or incorporating it therein, and enhance the lifelong academic, social and fiscal futures of its membership.

What is Sigma Upsilon?[]
Our goal in this fraternity as a group should be for the betterment of society as a whole and the sustaining of life on planet Earth. Membership should act in accordance to that in their professional careers, putting the health, happiness, and security of all life on this planet paramount in all of their decisions.
Sigma Upsilon was founded to serve a serious issue facing the field of sustainability in higher education; networking. Not only networking with the professional community but within and between universities among students clubs and organizations. The time to address many of the issues that face the world before there is no going back is waning, and as such communication between existing and forming clubs on college campuses is integral. There must be a collaboration between universities to share best practices for events, fundraising efforts and recruitment as well as compiling alumni networks and sharing job opportunities. It cannot be said enough; we don't have a lot of time. We must work together to lift each other up, teach each other professionalism, build our resumes and help each other succeed so that we can push as many sustainability advocates into the decision making community of the professional world as is humanly possible over the next few decades. Sigma Upsilon will work to connect existing environmental, economic and social clubs and organizations, as well as provide chapters where no such infrastructure exists, to allow this necessary communication.
If you've decided that you would like to become a member please consider the following:
- If you join and you are not a University student you are an affiliate member.
- A chapter can be a pre-existing environmental, social or economic club.
- You do not have to have a chapter on your campus to join.
- A full fledged member is someone who experienced membership in a chapter.
- There is no mandated postulant period for a chapter to induct new members.
- Joining Sigma Upsilon is for life, and we expect our members to assist each other.
